Years 9-10
Working Scientifically
- Acting responsibly: make decisions and take action
with consideration to the et hical, social and environmental implications.
- Science in society: identify a range of issues underlying
global and local decisions and express opinions that are scientifically
and technologically informed.
Years 11-12
Working Scientifically
- Acting responsibly: critique proposed or existing
scientific decisions and recommend responsible action
- Science in society: investigate an area of current
scientific activity and assess the accountability of this activity
Indicators
- Planning: Explore at least 2 perspectives on a current
scientific issue and choose a format to deliver detailed information about
it
- Acting responsibly: initiate a school or community
science-related project to improve quality of life

Environments
- Environmental awareness and care – examine the economic, political
and technical responses to issues arising from current resources and land
use
- Natural systems – investigate and represent how natural systems interact
on a global scale.

- Research a local urban or community issue and devise/formulate and action
plan
Natural Systems
- Investigate the phenomenon of global warming and the predicted global effects,
eg island nations, natural disasters, climate
(Years 11-12)
Environmental awareness and Care
- Undertake a course of action to advocate for the environmental issue
- Devise a strategy to resolve an issue related to the use and management
of a natural environment under threat.
Natural Systems
- Predict from current trends and use the development or depletion of natural
systems to devise suggested strategies for addressing these issues
